Not much to say tonight...
My brackets are officially busted, thanks DeJuan.
LeBron is the MVP.
Working sucks, even if you like your job.
I have a new business idea, and I'm ready to run with it.
I heard from Brian Smith and Marc Young within 2 days. That is weird.
I'm tired, but don't give up on the blog, I'll have tons of entertaining things by Monday at the latest.
Bed.

Before I get into what I was thinking about this morning, I wanted to address the chain email that some of you may have gotten from some hairy Frenchie with cigarette breath. I was mentioned in it, so I feel obligated to respond to the comment made. So this time it's not even that I want to talk about basketball, I am being forced to defend myself. Division 1 college basketball players don't play with anymore pride than professional ballers (baalllin'). Actually, I think the bigger point is that pros don't play with any less than D-1 players. The top 12 ranked teams in the tourney this year made it to the Sweet 16. Obviously all these teams are is a farm system for the NBA, and they are all playing for something much different than pride. They are playing for lottery picks, for their careers, for the potential of future money. Is that any different than NBA players who already have contracts and are now trying to accomplish the title of best basketball players in the world?
I guess your argument has a point if you are talking about schools where players are simply there for the love of the sport, like the Ohio Athletic Conference, aww jackets. I can see that those teams play for the pride, because there is nothing in it for them besides enjoying the sport. But the teams that remain in the tourney right now are all just trying to earn one more opportunity to impress scouts. I guarantee you that any of the stars would take a huge outing, where they make the buzzer beater and pull down a triple double, and then go out the next round over winning the whole tourney. (That's prob not true, and even I realize that, but I was too lazy to delete it).
All of that being said, I am extremely excited for this weekend's worth of matchups. Considering that all of the teams are of the highest (amateur) caliber, it should at least make for some good games. Speaking of good games... how about the Cavs last night? Another win, another dominant performance from our in house MVP, and this pass:
And if you needed more proof that the NBA is more fun to watch, you should have seen the Magic win over the Celtics. Dwight Howard is a beast, what more needs to be said?
Now, on to the original topic that I was going to post today. A while back I posted a music video of an Atmosphere song that can put me in a better mood no matter what the situation is. There are plenty of songs like that, so I figured there is no point is hoarding them all. So here are a few more that make any rainy day like today just a little bit better. Feel free to post other songs that do the same for you in the comments section, I'm always looking for new ones...
Counting Crows -- St. Robinson in His Cadillac Dreams
Incubus -- Aqueous Transmission
Kings of Leon -- Fans (yes Colin, Kings of effin Leon. You win.)
John Butler Trio -- Better Than
And good news, Wally is still riding the pine. Wahoo!

I read a good quote today: "Don't look for the next opportunity. The one you have in hand is the opportunity."
Not the most profound thing ever said, but I think it rings very true and is something that we all need to be reminded of on a regular basis. We are all in positions in life that, for the most part, we have chosen because we felt they were the correct next step. There is a first day to everything we do, and everything was at one point seen as the next great opportunity in life. Whether because it would mean more education, or money, or advancement, everything that we do is because there is some value. I didn't take my current job because I thought it would suck. I took it because I saw it as a stepping stone for my career. And yet, there are often days when I drive to work asking myself what I'm doing. And the answer to that is simple; putting in the hard work necessary to fully complete this step in my career. Every action in life is really just proving that you are ready for more responsibility or control. So I'm putting in my time, knowing that the next step isn't too far off. So anytime that I get out of focus, I guess I just need to realize that I am doing something that had tons of worth on the first day, and it still has that same worth... it's just lost the glamor that it once had. So I am making the most of it and won't stop until I reach the next step on my path towards ruling the world.
On another note, I saw I Love You, Man tonight. Not the best movie, but made me appreciate the friends that I have. Thanks for listening, laughing, and helping me to relax and make fun of myself. All of the best times in my life are because of the people that I share them with. So I appreciate all of you, thanks. Oh yeah, and no homo. Not that there's anything wrong with being gay (Word up to Seinfeld).
Too much emotion, time for being a man.

Tired can only begin to describe how i feel right now. Worked 10 hours friday, 10 saturday, 11 today, and 10 tomorrow. 41 hours in 4 days... awesome. Anyways, I wanted to post at least something, so these are two other videos that were suggested to me. Got a good laugh, so I figured I might as well share. And they aren't about basketball or Wally Sczerbiak. Although I guess saying that means I did mention him yet again. Both videos contain explicit language. As always, if offended by it, just simply don't watch it... Goodnight world.

So I had asked a few friends tonight for any videos that they thought were funny. Both coincidentally recommend evangelist related ones. So I figured it was some strange omen, like the Babe Ruth ball falling into the Beast's lair, and therefore I feel obligated to post even though I'm exhausted AND my brackets are screwed. Well, not screwed, but looks like once again my $10 should be considered a tax write off for the donation. Work all day tomorrow and Sunday for inventory, might not post again til Monday. I'd say Wally sucks, but I feel bad since he's injured.
Tyler Hansbrough sucks.
Preachers be crazy.

I hate the Filet o' Fish commercial. I think it's weird and stupid. Haha, way to use adult terms big guy. Anyways, there are way better commercials out there, like this one:
Who knows, maybe I'm just a snickers guy. Tourney day two, and I might already be out of the race. Good ol' March Madness...

Spring = Good
I don't know that I have ever appreciated spring more that I have this year. Even though officially it is not here yet, I am really just referring to sunshine and warmer weather. I really do feel like the only two seasons that exist in my mind are winter and summer. Winter is the depressing, frustrating, dark, boring half of the year. Summer is the fun, warm, happy, exciting half. Spring and fall are simply just transitions between the two. So right now it isn't spring to me, it's more like the first few minutes of summer and I am loving it. This week was the first time that I played basketball outside and had a BBQ, and I can't wait til the next time. It really is the little things in life that make the most difference.
Now, on to basketball:
You probably think I'm gonna talk about the Cavs beating Orlando and taking first place in the league. Or the fact that today marks the REAL start of March Madness (sorry Morehead State). But you're wrong. I'm hear to talk Charlotte Bobcats. So maybe they aren't the most successful team in the NBA at 30-38, but they are coming off two huge wins against other sub .500 teams (Raptors and Kings). But I really think it all starts with ownership, and the Cats shine in that department. They not only have the greatest basketball player of all time in Michael Jordan, but they also brought on a man who has had more just as much success in his own industry: Nelly. The only difference between the two is that noone respects Nelly, but that's another discussion. All I'm sayin is that I think Charlotte deserves more face time in the NBA world. Kobe's alright, Dwyane constantly gets to the line without ever being touched, but how many times just Gerald Wallace get thrown into the MVP race? He's picked up the slack nicely since their premier inside man, Sean May, went a packin' to the West Coast. Pay attention, they're going places folks.
"What's up, Ryan?"

Low on energy
It's funny how much you look forward to the weekend, but then come Sunday night you are more exhausted then you were when it began. Not complaining, just commenting. I haven't come across anything recently that blew my mind, so I'm just gonna have to go with an older video that you can never see too many times: Vince Carter dunking over some 7'2" white stiff (Like Wally Sczerbiak, only taller) in the Olympics a few years ago. Pretty unbelievable that it even happened, let alone during the course of a game. Sorry Nate Robinson, pushing off of Dwight Howard's shoulder just didn't cut it.
Some people have commented that my blog is all about basketball, which is pretty much true. When I was thinking about ways to change it up, I was thinking of different videos from the past. So the second video is the music video for the Beastie Boys song "Sabotage." This is the first music video I ever remember watching for the video itself. Hope everyone had a great weekend, I'll try to post a bit more regularly...

Congratulations!!
To the Cleveland Cavaliers, who clinched the Central Division for the first time since 1976! (Hey, it's Cleveland, we take what we can get). I think the acceptance speech from the organization would go something like this:
I want to thank Mike Brown, for getting fired up enough to get two technical fouls and motivate the team to get their heads straight and beat a bad team. Andy Varejao for keeping our last possession alive two times and forcing the Kings to foul because they, for the first time all night, were out rebounded. Thanks to Allen Iverson for ruining Detroit, and to Indiana and Chicago for forgetting how to play winning basketball.
This song is only related by the fact that it is titled "Congratulations." That artist is Drake, who is up and coming out of Toronto, and I have been listening to a lot recently. Some explicit lyrics, so if you're sensitive then this is your warning. Have a great day!

Song of the Day
Sunshine and music are the two things that can have an immediate positive impact on my mood. This song by one of my favorite artists, Atmosphere, melds both of those ideas and is a perfect soundtrack to the sunny yet cold weather that is currently Cleveland.
What things can have an immediate negative impact? All I can think of right now is when Mike Brown puts in Wally. Enjoy:

Livin' la vida retail
Yes, it is 11 AM on a Friday morning. Yes, I am writing an entry in the blog that will someday be touted as the greatest literary masterpiece ever written by someone on this computer. But NO, I'm not writing at work. In the fast-paced, action-packed retail environment in which I am currently living it is apparently normal to have Tuesday and Friday off, but then work 3 full weekends in a row. End rant.
In an effort to diversify my readership (is that a word?), I wanted to talk about something today that didn't involve the NBA. So I thought long and hard about all the topics I wanted to discuss, and came to a simple yet riveting conclusion. The reason I'm always talking NBA is because it is easily the most entertaining professional sport in this country. Footnotes: I added "professional" for Marc Young and his ludicrous belief that college basketball is better because they try. Yeah yeah yeah, I know Syracuse won a six-overtime game against UConn, but there are always exceptions to rules that I make that aren't really rules just how I'm feeling at the time.
So about that NBA, and my thought that Mo Williams should be the MVP... I rescind my previous statement. I am now campaigning for a co-MVP trophy to be awarded, just like they gave to the butt-touching Kobe and Shaq in this year's All-Star Game. Take last night for example: LeBron records his third triple-double in a row, has two unbelievable blocks, and hits clutch shots down the stretch. Mo hits 3 treys in the first quarter, tons of clutch shots, and is in my opinion the clear playmaker (hence his PG position). Some have said it is a Batman/Robin situation, but I think it's more like Laverne and Shirley... only replace them with big black men who are millionaires and don't listen to the beach boys and grease their hair. Not only are they a tandem, but they cannot successfully exist without each other. They fit like jigsaw pieces, and when you don't have one, the puzzle is not complete. So that ends the argument in my mind, it's gonna have to be co-MVPs or bust.
LeBron's block on J-Rich last night:
Drastically switching gears, watch this interview on Letterman with Joaquin Phoenix. I saw it when it first aired, but rediscovered it recently and it's hard to look away. A train wreck, just like Wally Sczerbiak's career.

Well folks, as the great Juicy J once said, "Another day another dollar, then I pop my collar." Except that today I was wearing a crew neck so I didn't even have that opportunity. Dwyane Wade ("I'm D-Wade") put on another amazing display of dominance tonight, this time against the lowly Celtics... for the record, I call them lowly because they include Kendrick Perkins and Stephon Marbury, two people that make me question whether being American is something I should be proud of. Another is the lead singer of Nickelback, but maybe I'm just jealous of his fame. Anyways, I really think Wade is easily in the top three race for MVP along with D. Howard and Mo Williams.
Yeah I said it, Mo Williams is in the race... not LeBron. If we're talking biggest star then LeBron wins no doubt, but as far as biggest impact, Mo is the biggest difference maker in Cleveland.
Enough with that though. I leave you with a mindless video. And once again, I hate Wally Sczerbiak.

And it begins...
Thought a public service announcement might be the best way to start off this masterpiece of a blog.
Even though I'm not the biggest Kobe fan, I have to respect him for at least trying to keep his opponents safe from injury.
Welcome to our world. No, not Wally's world (Sczerbiak), because he is terrible.
