I read a good quote today: "Don't look for the next opportunity. The one you have in hand is the opportunity."
Not the most profound thing ever said, but I think it rings very true and is something that we all need to be reminded of on a regular basis. We are all in positions in life that, for the most part, we have chosen because we felt they were the correct next step. There is a first day to everything we do, and everything was at one point seen as the next great opportunity in life. Whether because it would mean more education, or money, or advancement, everything that we do is because there is some value. I didn't take my current job because I thought it would suck. I took it because I saw it as a stepping stone for my career. And yet, there are often days when I drive to work asking myself what I'm doing. And the answer to that is simple; putting in the hard work necessary to fully complete this step in my career. Every action in life is really just proving that you are ready for more responsibility or control. So I'm putting in my time, knowing that the next step isn't too far off. So anytime that I get out of focus, I guess I just need to realize that I am doing something that had tons of worth on the first day, and it still has that same worth... it's just lost the glamor that it once had. So I am making the most of it and won't stop until I reach the next step on my path towards ruling the world.
On another note, I saw I Love You, Man tonight. Not the best movie, but made me appreciate the friends that I have. Thanks for listening, laughing, and helping me to relax and make fun of myself. All of the best times in my life are because of the people that I share them with. So I appreciate all of you, thanks. Oh yeah, and no homo. Not that there's anything wrong with being gay (Word up to Seinfeld).
Too much emotion, time for being a man.
